It doesn't matter how much time or effort went into them. These "masks" are infinitely more useful than all of the others because they can actually be worn as accessories rather than a silly mask no one wears for more than 2 days after halloween.
As far as I'm concerned, these 2 masks are the only lasting masks besides the pumpkin crown and freezie crown.
You're using the lasting excuse when the masks have only been here for less than a day. That's quite a prediction.
The goggles can be used whenever and are kinda cool. Anyone should be able to see that.
They don't expand on anything the tinted spectacles didn't already cover, both undyeable so unless you have a love for the color grey. I don't see a playerbase larger than the ones already wearing tinted spectacles to use them for long.
My only problem is that they don't look great on my female Necromancer. To certain looks, certain hairstyles and certain classes, yeah, they look downright awesome... but to what I play as, it's rather awful.
That's my problem with these two new "headgears": They're not universally eye pleasing to every character. I mean, can anyone really say a Male Monk looks good with kitty ears?
Every year, and for every event, there are some that like the hats and some that don't (I despise the scarecrow crap). Let the people that like them enjoy them. Who CARES why they like them. If they like them, great. If you like them, use them. if not, don't use them...it's always been this way for EVERY event. :/

I don't see how we're stopping them from enjoying their fail hats. Let the people that don't like them hate on them!

You're free to do so...not liking them because of how they look makes sense. Hell I think the Scarecrow/Warewolf masks look incredibly stupid. xD What I don't undersand is hating on them BECAUSE they assume an anime connection to them. Just seems like nitpicking to me. :/

I think its funny that anime has become so embarrassing that its the end of the world if it was actually the inspiration for the masks. Where else would the goggles come from?
I don't know......like every common mad scientist ever?

How is it embarassing? That's exactly my point...who CARES if it's the inspiration (which I still doubt anyway)? o_O

If those were supposed to be mad scientist goggles then there's alot of room for improvement.
I also dont remember any mad scientist movies with goggles like that or would even be an important enough figure to associate with halloween.

Steampunk is the very first thing that springs to mind for goggles.
And it's not embarrassing for everybody. People who are embarrassed that something might, based on pure speculation, have been inspired by a particular fandom must be really insecure. Would they be worried about being mistaken for a fan of something they're not really a fan of or something? And if so, why do they care so much what other people think?
Some people like stuff. Other people don't. More news at 11.

Considering the asuran our essentially mad scientists, and that those very much look like goggles a asuran mad scientist might wear......there ya go.
Also, it's not uncommon for the mad scientist theme to be assocciated with Halloween, Frakenstein for example (albeit it's more the monster he created, but he still counts simply by the fact he creates Frakenstein)

This place is really the #1 spot of GW complaining on the Internet these days, damn.
I'll just tag along for the ride for now because I have time to kill and tick down whatever comes to mind.
Spoilered for wall of text.
I know, you hate walls of text. So there's a tl;dr below it.
^Hey pa, goggles!
Don't like some headgear? Don't use them.
I don't use over half of the festival headgear myself. IT'S NOT THAT HARD! REALLY! YOU JUST (SHOW IT TO THE HAT MAKER,) TRASH IT AND NEVER WEAR IT AGAIN!
BY THE SIX GODS! THE CAT EARS OR GOGGLES DON'T LOOK GREAT ON YOUR CHARACTER!?
Newsflash, almost every damned headgear has that problem.
Nothing new. Some will fit, others wont.
Huge masks look horrible on females while great on males, the skimpy stuff looks bad on males while great on females. Then there's armor combinations, hairstyles, faces to take into consideration. Wreath Crown anyone?
And yes, your FoW armored Monk with a ninja mask and chaos gloves looks hideous.
Oh, speaking of Ninja masks..
MUST BE ANIME, RIGHT?! BECAUSE NINJAS ONLY APPEAR IN ANIME! LIKE CAT EARS! What? No? PFFFFFFFFFF
Also, tastes.
Though on the internet, nobody cares about that for whatever reason.
Anyways.
Sure, cat ears are mainly seen in anime/Japan, but goddamn..
Even the shut-ins in Japan know that cat ears were popular before that.
Also the whole cat worship in Ancient Egypt and all that.
And NOW you bring on the furry deal?
Charr and Lupin Masks want to have a word with you.
To me this all looks like a lame excuse for the haters to bash the anime fandom while crying at papa Anet for a replacement hat.
Which they won't get, because..
Arenanet consists of a good chunk of Anime Fans
..and they're not obligated to.
If a little Cat Ear head decoration pisses you off so much, maybe it's time to turn off the computer.
On a final note:
tl;dr: It's Halloween. EVERYTHING IS RELATED AS LONG AS YOU CAN DRESS UP AS IT! YES, EVEN A TOILET SEAT COVER!
I BET YOU'LL BE THE GREATEST TRICK-OR-TREATING TOILET SEAT COVER IN HISTORY!
So. Please. Stop. Whining.
And thanks for all the fish.
P.S.
Vampires wouldn't work if they only give teeth. It's -way- too small to notice.
Be prepared for facepaint or a mask made of papier-mâché.
